Buying & Selling Homes

Please contact Lakes Region Water Company Inc. to notify us of any pending house transfers at least 5-7 business days in advance.

The proper paperwork must be processed and a final meter read (if applicable) must be obtained prior to transfer. We need to have the closing date & the buyer’s information including a valid mailing address to put on file. If we are not notified of the sale, the current customer of record will be liable for all charges and fees pertaining to that account.

After the final meter read is obtained, LRWC will generate a final bill for the seller, which will include: water usage fees, a pro-rated base rate, any unbilled service fees that were incurred for the current quarter, a service call fee for obtaining this final read (this service call fee is paid equally among buyer & seller).

The final bill is forward to the appropriate agent, preferably the person who is handling the closing. All final bills are to be included on the H.U.D. statement along with the other public utilities. Your realtor, closing agent, lawyer or title company should be very familiar with this process.

Once the sale has been finalized, the buyer will become the customer of record and is responsible for all decisions and charges associated with the account. An administrative fee of $25 is charged to all new customers for this transfer.
